Infographic: The Coral Triangle
The Coral Triangle stretches across six countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Considered as the World's center of marine life, it is an ecosystem that is now under threat.
Apart from unsustainable and destructive methods of fishing, mangrove deforestation, reclamation, unregulated tourism, and pollution, climate change is also affecting the Coral Triangle and other marine and coastal ecosystems.
In 2007, the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) was launched to help coastal communities act as stewards and to adjust their lifestyles and livelihoods to promote sustainability. (Infographic from ADB.)
