The Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently signed a knowledge partnership agreement with the World Resources Institute (WRI) to further improve and strengthen the Asia Leadership Program.

WRI is a global research organization working on transforming knowledge into practical and scalable solutions in the areas of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being.

The ADB-WRI partnership will focus on improving the Program’s learning activities, namely the e-Learning Courses, Knowledge Sharing Series, Community of Leaders and the face-to-face Annual Program.

E-Learning

The E-Learning component offers participants with structured, online courses on sustainable development and climate change, natural resources management, sustainable infrastructure, and leadership approaches towards achieving inclusive green growth.  Under this component, ADB and WRI will collaborate to develop e-courses, improve content quality and provide online resources.

Knowledge Sharing Series

For the Knowledge Sharing Series, experts from both institutions will be tapped as resource speakers during live and interactive activities that will be streamed online for alumni of the Annual Programs, and interested individuals, groups and organizations.

Community of Leaders, Annual Programs

Meanwhile, the Community of Leaders is a virtual community of experts, practitioners and thought leaders who share their expertise and experiences on sustainable development and climate change.  Initial members of this virtual community will include the alumni of the face-to-face Annual Programs. The partnership will enable ADB and WRI to deliver online knowledge sharing and learning sessions and establish e-communities in the focus sectors. These activities aim to explain and highlight the critical role of leaders in project design, implementation and communications, using technologies and innovative solutions, and building networks and partnerships.

Program background

Spearheaded by ADB since 2012, the Asia Leadership Program on Sustainable Development and Climate Change aims to produce a critical mass of leaders who will harness the rich experiences of Asia-Pacific countries and integrate sustainable development and climate change solutions into policies and programs.

The Asia Leadership Program is in line with ADB's missions of helping its client countries reduce poverty and improve quality of life through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.
